On January 13, 2017. Geographical Institute organized a Cocktail party, as traditional iformal gathering of the employees, collaborators, partners and pensioners of the Institute. On that occasion, the retrospective of the last year activities, significant events and professional success of the Institute was presented. Moreover, the plans for the forthcoming year were outlined.

On 20 December 2016, Alexander Shestakov, rector and Viktor Katochkov, vice-rector for International Cooperation of the South-Ural State University in Chelyabinsk (Russia) made an official visit to the Geographical Institute with the aim of realizing the international cooperation. Visit was an exchange of information on the work of institutions and planning for future cooperation.

It is our honour to inform you that Prof. Dr Slobodan Marković, bacame the corresponding member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. On 7th of November 2015, prof Markovic was promoted into the corresponding member of SASA, becoming with 45 years of age, the younges academician and at the moment the only living member of the Academy engaged in the field of Geography.
