Since 2008, the Geographical Institute "Jovan Cvijić" Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, has been dedicated to the transfer of scientific knowledge toward formal education. The mentioned activities were implemented through the programs for continuous professional development of employees in formal education, accredited by the Institute for the Improvement of Education and Training (ZUOV) - Center for Professional Development of Employees in Education.
Accredited programs aim to improve the competence of teachers in primary and secondary schools in geography. The primary task of the programs is the adoption of an approach for the implementation of acquired knowledge and skills in teaching content and programs.
Up until now, seven programs of continuous professional development of teachers were accredited, which realization included a significant number of participants from primary and secondary schools in the territory of Serbia.
